Hosea 1:10-11
Not My People, Called My People
10Yet the number of the Israelites will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or counted. And it will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’
11Then the people of Judah and of Israel will be gathered together, and they will appoint for themselves one leader, and will go up out of the land. For great will be the day of Jezreel.

The judgment names from the previous scene are not the final word. The LORD now promises that the number of the Israelites will become like the sand of the sea, too numerous to measure or count. The promise recalls the language of God's covenant with Abraham, but it arrives in the middle of a prophecy about rejection.
The reversal is striking. In the very place where the people were told, “You are not My people,” they will be called “sons of the living God.” The same land that witnessed the sentence will hear the new name. Restoration is not an escape from the truth of what happened. It is God's power to speak a new word after judgment has exposed the old one.
Judah and Israel will be gathered together. The divided people will appoint one leader and go up out of the land. The verse calls the day of Jezreel great. That name had carried a warning about bloodshed, but it can also carry the scale of God's future gathering. A place marked by violence is not beyond the reach of redemption.
This brief turn keeps us from reading Hosea as though judgment were God's only interest. The LORD does not soften the earlier warning, but He does reveal a purpose beyond it. He can gather what has been divided, rename what has been rejected, and begin a new future for people who could not create one for themselves.

Pay attention to the labels your household repeats. Correcting a harmful action is different from declaring that a person is nothing but that action. Truth and a path back belong together.
Prayer
God of restoration, gather what is divided and teach us to speak of people with truth and mercy. Keep us from turning a failure into a permanent name, and make our homes places of honest belonging. Amen.
