Psalm 121:1-8
The Keeper of Israel
1A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?
2My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
3He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber.
4Behold, the Protector of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
5The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is the shade on your right hand.
6The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.
7The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul.
8The LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.

The traveler lifts his eyes to the hills and asks where help will come from. His help comes from the LORD, Maker of heaven and earth. The hills may be the route ahead or the place where danger hides; either way, the answer is not the landscape but its Creator.
The LORD will not let the traveler's foot slip and will neither slumber nor sleep. He is keeper of Israel, shade at the right hand, protection from sun by day and moon by night. The language gives assurance of constant attention.
The LORD will keep the traveler from all harm, guard his life, and watch over his coming and going now and forever. The psalm promises God's keeping, not a life without every accident or sorrow; its comfort is that no journey is outside His care.
