Equip Zenas and Apollos

Paul closes with practical arrangements. When he sends Artemas or Tychicus, Titus is to make every effort to join him at Nicopolis, where Paul plans to spend the winter. Their work involves real people, travel and shared responsibilities.

Titus must also equip Zenas the lawyer and Apollos so that they have what they need. The command is specific: care for these workers includes providing for their journey. It is a task Titus can act on rather than a general wish that they fare well.

Paul extends the lesson to the believers. They must learn to devote themselves to good works that meet pressing needs, so that their lives are fruitful. Such service takes attention and practice. The request concerning Zenas and Apollos gives a present opportunity to learn it.

The letter has repeatedly connected God's saving grace with good deeds. Here that connection appears in ordinary provision for other people. Greetings from those with Paul and his request to greet fellow believers express their shared affection. The final wish for grace includes them all, the source of the life and service the letter has described.
