All Things Are Yours
18Let no one deceive himself. If any of you thinks he is wise in this age, he should become a fool, so that he may become wise.
19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
20And again, “The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
21Therefore, stop boasting in men. All things are yours,
22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future. All of them belong to you,
23and you belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.

Paul warns anyone who thinks he is wise by the standards of this age to become a fool so that he may become wise. He is not praising ignorance. He is asking people to surrender the kind of cleverness that refuses God's wisdom because it cannot control or take credit for it.
The wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. Paul supports the claim with Scripture: God catches the wise in their craftiness, and the Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile. Human intelligence is a gift, but it becomes foolish when it treats itself as independent of the Creator.
The Corinthians must stop boasting in human leaders. Paul, Apollos, and Cephas belong to the church's service, but no faction owns them. Paul then expands the horizon: the world, life, death, the present, and the future are theirs, and they belong to Christ, and Christ belongs to God.
This is not permission to possess people or consume everything we want. It is a declaration that the believer's inheritance is larger than a narrow attachment to one teacher or group. Because believers belong to Christ, they do not need to fight for worth through borrowed status.
A household can release a great deal of anxiety by remembering where it belongs. People, opportunities, losses, and the future are not ultimate masters. Christ holds His people, and every good gift is received under God's authority.
