Daniel Is Honored

46At this, King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face, paid homage to Daniel, and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him.
47The king said to Daniel, “Your God is truly the God of gods and Lord of kings, the Revealer of Mysteries, since you were able to reveal this mystery.”
48Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many generous gifts. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and chief administrator over all the wise men of Babylon.
49And at Daniel’s request, the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to manage the province of Babylon, while Daniel remained in the king’s court.

Nebuchadnezzar falls facedown and pays homage to Daniel. He orders an offering and incense to be presented to him, and declares that Daniel’s God is the God of gods, Lord of kings, and Revealer of Mysteries. The explanation of the dream has brought an extraordinary response from the king who threatened the wise men.
He promotes Daniel, gives him generous gifts, and makes him ruler over the province of Babylon and chief administrator over its wise men. Daniel’s position has changed from facing execution to bearing substantial responsibility in the king’s service.
Daniel asks that Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego also be appointed, and the king puts them in charge of the province’s affairs. These are the friends who had pleaded with him for mercy. They now share in the work that follows, while Daniel remains in the king’s court.
