Psalm 126:1-6
Restored to Zion
1A song of ascents. When the LORD restored the captives of Zion, we were like dreamers.
2Then our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with shouts of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”
3The LORD has done great things for us; we are filled with joy.
4Restore our captives, O LORD, like streams in the Negev.
5Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy.
6He who goes out weeping, bearing a trail of seed, will surely return with shouts of joy, carrying sheaves of grain.

When the LORD restored Zion, the people felt like dreamers. Their mouths were filled with laughter and their tongues with shouts of joy. Other nations noticed and said the LORD had done great things for them.
The community agrees: the LORD has done great things, and they are glad. Then the prayer asks for restoration again, like streams returning to the Negev. Past rescue becomes a reason to ask for more restoration, not a reason to pretend everything is finished.
Those who sow with tears will reap with shouts of joy. The person who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs and sheaves. The image honors labor done in grief while holding hope for harvest.
