The Kingdom of the World Becomes Christ's

15Then the seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and loud voices called out in heaven: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”
16And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,
17saying: “We give thanks to You, O Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
18The nations were enraged, and Your wrath has come. The time has come to judge the dead and to reward Your servants the prophets, as well as the saints and those who fear Your name, both small and great—and to destroy those who destroy the earth.”
19Then the temple of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant appeared in His temple. And there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and a great hailstorm.

The seventh angel blows his trumpet, and loud voices in heaven say that the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever. The twenty-four elders fall on their faces and worship God.
They give thanks because God has taken His great power and begun to reign. The nations rage, but God's wrath comes and the time arrives for the dead to be judged, for rewarding servants and prophets, saints, and those who fear God's name, both small and great, and for destroying those who destroy the earth.
God's temple in heaven is opened, and the ark of His covenant is seen within it. There are flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail. The trumpet joins judgment, reward, worship, and covenant presence in one scene.
The nations' anger cannot prevent this reign. The elders thank God for the judgment and reward He brings: those who destroy will themselves be destroyed, and His servants will be remembered. Small and great stand together in that promise. Public importance will not determine whether faithful service counts.
The opened temple reveals the ark of His covenant. The Judge is the God who has bound Himself to His people. Lightning, thunder, earthquake, and hail accompany the scene, but the voices of heaven are giving thanks. For those who fear His name, His reign is the fulfillment of their hope.
