The First Three Bowls

1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, “Go, pour out on the earth the seven bowls of God’s wrath.”
2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and loathsome, malignant sores broke out on those who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
3And the second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it turned to blood like that of the dead, and every living thing in the sea died.
4And the third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they turned to blood.
5And I heard the angel of the waters say: “Righteous are You, O Holy One, who is and was, because You have brought these judgments.

A loud voice from the sanctuary tells the seven angels to pour out the seven bowls of God's wrath on the earth. The first angel pours his bowl, and harmful and painful sores come upon the people who bear the mark of the beast and worship its image.
The second angel pours his bowl into the sea, and it becomes like the blood of a corpse. Every living thing in the sea dies. The third pours his bowl into the rivers and springs, and they become blood.
John hears the angel of the waters say that God is just because those who shed the blood of saints and prophets have shed blood, and God has given them blood to drink. The altar answers that the judgments of the Lord God Almighty are true and just.
The first three bowls turn land, sea, rivers, and springs into places of pain and death. The angel connects the water judgment to bloodshed, presenting moral reckoning rather than random suffering detached from human violence. The altar answers that God's judgments are true and just, keeping the scene under divine authority rather than human impulse.
