The Kings Gather at Armageddon

12And the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings of the East.
13And I saw three unclean spirits that looked like frogs coming out of the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.
14These are demonic spirits that perform signs and go out to all the kings of the earth, to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty.
15“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who remains awake and clothed, so that he will not go naked and let his shame be exposed.”
16And they assembled the kings in the place that in Hebrew is called Armageddon.

The sixth angel pours his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water is dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east. John sees three unclean spirits like frogs coming from the mouths of the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet.
These are demonic spirits that perform signs. They go to the kings of the whole earth to gather them for battle on the great day of God the Almighty. Amid this scene Jesus announces that He is coming like a thief and blesses the person who stays awake and clothed, so that shame will not be exposed.
The spirits gather the kings to the place called Armageddon in Hebrew. The passage gives that name but does not describe the battle here. The hearer is left with both the gathering threat and Christ's call to readiness.
The signs come from spirits serving the dragon, beast, and false prophet. Their impressive works do not make their message true. While kings are being drawn toward battle, Jesus directs His people to remain awake. His coming is what they must be ready for.
Readiness does not require a confident identification of every present war with this vision. It requires faithfulness to the Lord who says He is coming. His blessing gives the churches a clear response in the middle of a frightening scene.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, keep us awake and faithful while deceptive powers gather people toward conflict. Give our household discernment with urgent words, courage without panic, and readiness for Your coming. Amen.
