Peace I Give You

25All this I have spoken to you while I am still with you.
26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have told you.
27Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; do not be afraid.
28You heard Me say, ‘I am going away, and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I.
29And now I have told you before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe.
30I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming, and he has no claim on Me.
31But I do exactly what the Father has commanded Me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up! Let us go on from here.

Jesus promises that the Father will send the Holy Spirit in His name. The Spirit will teach the disciples and remind them of everything Jesus has said. These are men who have heard Him firsthand and still have much to understand. His departure will not leave them without help to remember and understand His teaching.
He also gives them His peace. This promise comes before the arrest and suffering they will soon face. Jesus is not saying that nothing frightening will happen. He is giving them reason to trust Him when it does.
He says they should rejoice that He is going to the Father, who is greater than He. In this farewell, Jesus is speaking as the Son sent into the world and carrying out the Father's commands. His return is not the loss His disciples imagine. In John 17:5, He asks to be glorified with the Father in the glory He had before the world existed. His words here should not be taken to mean He is merely a creature or a lesser god.
The ruler of this world is coming, but has no claim on Jesus. What happens next will show Jesus' love for the Father as He does what the Father commanded. He tells the disciples beforehand so that the events will strengthen their faith rather than persuade them that evil has taken Him by surprise. His peace rests on who He is and what He is doing.
