Hebrews

39 devotions across 13 chapters, covering 303 verses.

Hebrews speaks to believers who need to keep going. Its author is not named, but the message is clear: God has spoken decisively through His Son, Jesus is greater than angels and Moses, and His priesthood gives God's people a living way to draw near. The letter is rich with Old Testament quotations, but its purpose is pastoral rather than merely academic. It wants weary people to see Jesus clearly enough to endure.

The writer explains Christ's work through the language of priests, sacrifices, the tabernacle, and covenant. These are not invitations to rebuild the old worship system. They show why Jesus' self-offering is complete, why His intercession continues, and why the New Covenant brings forgiveness and access to God. The argument asks readers to trust the better reality God has provided in Christ.

Hebrews also contains some of Scripture's strongest warnings. The warnings address drifting, hardening the heart, deliberate rebellion, and throwing away confidence after receiving the truth. They should not be used to torment a tender conscience or to declare that a struggling believer has no hope. They are urgent calls to remain near Christ, among His people, and responsive to God's voice.

The great faith chapter names people who obeyed without seeing the whole promise. Some received remarkable deliverance; others suffered and died without receiving what was promised. Faith is therefore not a guarantee of an easy life. It is confident allegiance to God that keeps moving toward His promise, even when the outcome is not yet visible.

The letter closes by turning theology into a household's life: pursue peace and holiness, show hospitality, remember prisoners and the mistreated, honor marriage, resist the love of money, pray for leaders, and receive the God of peace who equips His people for every good work. Hebrews calls us to fix our eyes on Jesus and live as people who belong to an unshakable kingdom.
