My Family Devotion

Every passage, in order

Exodus

105 devotions across 40 chapters, covering 1213 verses.

Exodus begins with a family that has become a people and a people who have become afraid. Israel's suffering in Egypt is not treated as background noise: the book tells us that God hears their groaning, remembers His covenant, and acts. Moses is called through a bush that burns without being consumed, and the story moves from reluctance and resistance to a road through the sea.

The rescue is not the end of Exodus. The people are brought to Sinai, where freedom receives a form. God teaches them how to live with one another, how to treat the vulnerable, how to worship, and how to remember that they belong to Him. The instructions for the tabernacle can feel far from a family's ordinary life, but they carry a steady question: how will a holy God dwell among a people who are still learning trust?

This book also refuses a polished picture of faith. Israel complains when water is scarce, fears the wilderness, and makes a golden calf while Moses is on the mountain. Moses argues, listens, obeys, and pleads for mercy. The people bring their gifts, the workers use their skill, and the dwelling is finally filled with the glory of the LORD. Deliverance, failure, forgiveness, work, and presence all belong in the same story.

Read Exodus aloud without rushing past the difficult parts. Let children ask why a command is there, let adults distinguish what the text says from what they are inferring, and let the household notice both God's patience and the real cost of refusing His ways. The goal is not to turn every detail into a slogan. It is to meet the God who hears, delivers, forms, and dwells with His people.
